REPLACE CHANCE WITH CHOICE

WHAT WE DO

True North was founded to connect young people as they explore their identity, and allows them to create a space that fosters fellowship with others they relate to.

By creating opportunities for them to develop programming for their peers and to learn from and engage with prominent pioneers across diverse fields, we give young people a stronger sense of belonging, greater confidence, and a wider view of the lives they can build.

CORE BELIEFS

1. Uncertainty about your sexuality is not a crisis, it is a process every person goes through as they figure out who they are.

2. We make decisions best when we have context and along side others as they make their own choices.

3. Feeling connected to people and communities that share our interests makes us more empowered to explore.

4. Friends your own age make the good times better and the bad times more bearable.

5. Access to things we think are important, make us feel like we can do important things.

True North was founded by gay men with the goal of addressing the particular needs of their community. It was developed with an understanding of its chosen families, its specific patterns of shame and pride, its relationship with health and risk and belonging.

What we found is that the things young gay men need to become confident and engaged are not necessarily unique to being gay — And that our allies, friends and even sometimes family members are also figuring out their own identities.

The rigid lines of sexuality are changing and whomever you are, and whatever your sexuality there is a place for you here at True North
