True North is founded upon a simple idea. We need to do better at looking out for the young people who are entering our queer community.
OUR CAUSE
The Mission
One of the most vulnerable times in a young persons life is when they stop sharing with their friends and family and start exploring on their own. For better or worse, the first people a young individual meets have a huge impact on the choices they will make.
For some this means mentorship and new friendships, but when left to chance it can also result in predatory or even violent sexual situations.
We can do better!
What We offer
We believe is that the two most important factors in the success of a young person are:
1. Are they exploring in isolation?
The ability to talk to peers about the people, situations and experiences they encounter provides much needed advice, validation and perspective needed to make good choices.
2. Do they see a direction for themselves?
People need to be able to imagine a future if they are going to try and protect it.
